The year was 1980: Camp Crystal Lake counselors were being terrorized by “Jason” in the movie, Friday the 13th, while John Travolta was hanging out on a mechanical bull in Urban Cowboy. The U.S. hockey team beat Russia for the gold in the Winter Olympics, Washington’s Mount Saint Helens volcano erupted, John Lennon was shot to death in New York, and Iraq invaded Iran. A gallon of gas was $1.25, and it only cost .15 to mail a letter to your grandma. “Who Shot J.R. Ewing” was on everyone’s minds, and you were probably listening to Blondie’s number one song, “Call Me” on your Sony™ Walkman while playing with your Rubik’s Cube! 

Fellow Monarchs, it’s hard to believe it’s been thirty years since we walked out of those purple doors at Manzano High School for the last time, with our class song, “Reason to Be” by Kansas still fresh in our minds. Now, here we are, ready to come back together as “Monarchs Again in 2010!” Wouldn’t you love to see how everyone has changed, relive old memories and create some new ones? This is a rare opportunity to re-connect with a piece of your past and we hope you’ll join us.

Your reunion coordinator, along with Blast from the Past Reunions, has been busy setting the stage for you to join the fun. We plan to have a wonderful evening of food, music and reminiscing. Dress is casual. And the price is easy on your wallet…

Blast from the Past Reunions realizes that we are still living in a difficult economy, so they have gone out of their way to secure a fantastic ticket price for our Saturday night reunion event ——$55 per person—which will include the ballroom, DJ/entertainment, deposit, one or two cash bars, save-the-date postcards, food (hors d' oeuvres and desserts), decorations, photography, extensive alumni search, supplies, media announcements and advertising, web site registration, name tags, staffing at the event, NM sales tax, and all other costs associated with producing a reunion. In order to keep costs down, we will not be having a sit down dinner. Instead, we will have hot & cold hors d'oeuvres and a Viennese dessert bar.

Saturday night’s reunion will take place at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 1000 Woodward Pl. NE, Albuquerque (I-25 & Lomas), and will include a wonderful night of food (hors d' oeuvres, desserts), music and reminiscing. The room rate at the Embassy Suites is $119 per night (plus tax). This rate includes a full cooked-to-order breakfast, free cocktails in the Atrium between 5-7 p.m., and free parking. The reservation code for our class is C80. Call 1-800-EMBASSY or go to www.albuquerque.embassysuites.com to make a reservation. The cut-off date for this rate is June 29, 2010.

There will also be a pre-reunion mixer on Friday, July 16 that only those registered for the Saturday night event will be invited to via an email the week of the reunion.

Reunion Memory CD:  
A reunion memory CD will be produced that will include photos from the event, including the group photo, plus any memory book pages that are emailed to Blast from the Past before the reunion.  Use the link on the left as a guide to creating your submission for the memory cd and then mail it to party@blastreunions.com.  The CD can be ordered on-line through the registration link.
